Music Terms for Grade Exams ("App", "we", "us", "our") is an educational app designed to help users learn music theory terminology and prepare for music grade examinations. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the App, and is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Use.

To use Music Terms for Grade Exams, you are required to create an account. When you register, we collect the information you provide, including your email address and password. Your password is stored in encrypted (hashed) form and is never stored in plain text.
We also store information related to your use of the App, such as your learning progress, quiz results, and other data necessary to provide the App's features and synchronize your progress across your devices.
We do not collect unnecessary personal information such as your physical address, payment information, or government-issued identification.
The App does not currently show advertisements or use advertising or behavioural-tracking technologies. If this changes in future, we will update this Privacy Policy before doing so, notify you in-app, and — where you are a child or where the law otherwise requires it — obtain any consent needed before enabling personalised advertising or tracking.
We do not intentionally collect special category personal data (such as data revealing racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health, or sexual orientation), and we ask that you do not include such information anywhere in the App, including in support requests.

Music Terms for Grade Exams is designed primarily for children and teenagers preparing for graded music exams, and we handle children's information accordingly.
If you create an account or otherwise provide personal data on behalf of another person — for example, as a parent or guardian setting up an account for a child — you confirm that you are authorised to do so and to give any consent required on that person's behalf, including consent to processing of their data and receipt of related notices.

We use trusted third-party service providers ("processors") — such as cloud hosting providers — to operate the App and store account and learning-progress data. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not currently use any advertising service providers.
Where any of our service providers store or process personal data outside the UK or European Economic Area, we ensure an appropriate safeguard is in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an applicable adequacy decision.

If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our active systems within a reasonable period, except to the extent we are required or permitted by law to retain certain information for a limited additional period.
You can delete your account and its associated data at any time using the in-app deletion feature; if you are unable to access the App, you can request deletion by emailing us at contact@musictheoryexams.com with your account email address, and we will delete your account and all associated data within a reasonable time.
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Your password is encrypted and is never stored in plain text. We do not request sensitive personal information such as credit card numbers, government identification numbers, or financial account details.
You may delete your account at any time using the account deletion feature within the App. Upon deletion, your account and associated personal data will be permanently removed from our active systems, except where we are required or permitted by applicable law to retain certain information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Where changes are material — particularly changes affecting children's data or any processing that relies on your consent — we will notify you within the App before the change takes effect, and will seek fresh consent where our legal basis for processing depends on it, in addition to updating the Effective Date shown at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any non-material changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
